In the early 1960’s these were invented, and took the profession by
storm. They allow a single dentist do the daily work of 20 dentists before
they were invented.
I’m sorry but they will never be replaced completely.
I still use mine to adjust your tooth colored fillings, and to prepare
your teeth for crowns while I am making them. And nothing else removes old
silver/mercury fillings.
But I don’t use them as often on new decay. The laser and the air abrasion
do that.
