I have been a dentist 21 years, and early in my
career I spent a good deal of time with a root canal specialist. A very
respected one. He would routinely take 10 x-rays during a single root
canal appointment of the same tooth.
Recently a new technology has been developed which many dentists use, most
specialists also. It works like a “stud finder” you buy at the hardware
store and allows us to dispense with almost all of those “measuring
x-rays” during a root canal treatment.
Usually I take only a single x-ray of the tooth I am doing a root canal on
now. And that is done after I am finished to make sure I have made no
mistakes.
My apex locator lets me avoid damage to the bone around your tooth and
makes the root canal almost entirely free from soreness after I am
finished. I will never be without it now. |
