I make my crowns with my CEREC computer usually. They
contain no metal. For the past 25 years we have had the ability to make
porcelain stick to white gold. This white gold actually looks gray since
the porcelain won’t stick if the metal is polished. No doubt you have seen
people with front teeth that have the gray line showing at the gumline.
That gray line was always there, but the dentist had to go to great pains
to hide it below the gums. But as we age, the gumline recedes even in a
healthy mouth and the gray begins to show.
My crowns have no gray line. And now my bridges seldom do either.
On the very cusp of technology is “ceramometal” material. Someday your car
will have a ceramometal engine block. It will get about 100 miles per
gallon, have no radiator, and require no cooling system at all. For now,
however the only place you can get this technology is in all porcelain
bridges. They allow us to provide the kind of “beauty” which crowns have
risen to in bridges as well. Only for the past few months have I been
offering this technology to my patients. |
